As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gears up for its crucial 2028 elections a clarion call has been made by one of its most prominent figures, former Member of Parliament and renowned businessman Kennedy Agyapong.
Agyapong has emphatically stated that the party’s focus should extend beyond merely selecting a flagbearer.
He said the party needs to choose a dedicated and visionary candidate who can demonstrates a genuine commitment to the welfare of both party members and the entire nation.
Speaking passionately during his campaign tour in the Savanna region, Kennedy Agyapong said the party might opt for a dormant candidate whose lack of vision and dedication could severely derail the party’s fortune in the 2028 elections.
He urged delegates and the broader Ghanaian populace to look beyond superficial considerations and identify a leader with a proven heart for service.
The outspoken politician also used the platform to address what he termed as a calculated attempts by his critics to tarnish his image.
He attributed such actions to the corrupting influence of power struggles within the party.
I have been accused of virtually doing nothing to support the Npp, Agyapong lamented highlighting what he perceives as undue character assassination.
Kennedy Agyapong vehemently dismissed these accusations as completely false.
He reiterated that Ghanaians can testify to his enduring commitment stating how his role has seen the growth of the Npp.
He hinted that from 1992 to this time Ghanaians can testify that I am the most financially and materially supportive to the functions of the party.
He emphasized that his contributions are visible and well known to the party but expressed his surprise on why his critics choose to ignore these facts and resort to lies and blackmail campaign against him.
Despite what he described as vain criticism from his opponents, Kennedy Agyapong remains unshakeable in his resolve.
He affirmed his strong belief that the delegates will ultimately vote him to lead the NPP to victory in 2028.
His vision he reiterated, is focused on transforming the party and addressing the numerous challenges confronting the country.
Kennedy Agyapong is one of five contestants vying for the post of flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party a position that will empower the chosen individual to challenge the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the next general elections.
In a poignant question directed at the delegates and Ghanaian electorate the former MP challenged their priorities:
Are you just after flagbearer or a right candidate who will seek the welfare of the entire Ghanaians amidst the development of the party and the country?
On this note Kennedy Agyapong charged the delegates and Ghanaians alike to treat his opponents criticisms with contempt and to cast their votes for him.
To enable him realize his transformative dreams for Ghana.
He underscored the gravity of their choice, stressing that if a mandate is inadvertently given to his critics the party would experience worst things for a very time to come.
