The landscape of modern Christianity has increasingly become dominated by the search for spiritual breakthroughs with many congregants flocking to pastors for directions on a specific rituals or instructions that could unlock prosperity and solve life’s challenges.
However Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr the Head Pastor of the 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies at Feyiase, Kumasi has sounded a stern alarm, condemning the commercialization of these practices and labeling them as unbiblical distortions of the gospel.
Addressing the growing trend where pastors charge fees for spiritual “antidotes” to life’s problems, Elder Ofori Jnr indicated that such practices have no place in the life of a true follower of Christ.

According to the clergyman the obsession with seeking directions from men rather than relying on God is a symptom of a modern deviation from authentic scripture.
The Myth of Consultation:
Speaking to the correspondent in an exclusive interview, Elder Ofori Jnr emphasized that true breakthroughs are not a commodity to be purchased or a ritual to be performed for a fee.
Instead, it is a fruit of one’s personal faith in Jesus Christ the Rock of Ages who holds the beginning and the end of every human life.
He noted that true breakthroughs comes from God through ones faith in Jesus Christ and prayers that offered in faith .
These conducts he viewed, remained as the primary vehicle for transforming spiritual, physical and economic lives just as Christ taught. .
Addressing the Misuse of Biblical Precedent:
Refuting the claims of those who use isolated biblical incidents to justify the daily practice of spiritual directions, Elder Ofori Jnr provided a historical context.
He pointed to the story of Prophet Elisha in 2 Kings 2:19 20 where the prophet used salt to purify bitter river amidst Jesus Christ who also used mud and saliva to heal a blind man.
The man of God reiterated that these acts were one time miraculous interventions performed at the request of the people and crucially never attracted fee for the services rendered.
They were not also intended to be continued as a daily practices or a business model for the ministry.
Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr contended that by turning these sporadic acts of divine grace into a tangible scene no fee was paid for the service as it is happening to many modern pastors who blatantly exploit the vulnerable.
Warning Against Spiritual Extortion:
The Kumasi based pastor did not mince words regarding the motives of those promote these trends.
He noted that due to lack of deep biblical knowledge among many believers unsuspecting individuals are being cheated by alleged false prophets.
He said the Bible warns us that in the end times, many would rise up and use the scripture for personal gains through extorting money from the ignorant.
It is no secret; it is the fulfillment of the biblical prophecy that people will often choose the wrong path over the truth in the end time.
A Call to Discernment
Elder Enoch Ofori signalled a strong call to believers to move away from the direction seeking culture and instead cultivate a habit of personal prayer relationship with God who
does not require a middleman to charge you a fee before releasing
your breakthrough.
