Consider our contributions towards national development and maintain our damaged school for us – Chief appeals to Akuffo Addo.
The chief of Numesua a town near Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North District of the Ashanti region, Nana Kwadwo Mogyie has passionately appealed to the President of the Republic, Nana Akuffo Addo to come to the aid of his town by a way of helping the community to maintain their school which is on the verge of collapse.
Speaking to the correspondent in an interview, the chief said the school came into existence about 20 years when the community organized a communal labor to raise the edifice.
Nana disclosed that having completed the wooden school structures and commissioned for the past twenty years, the project has since lost its strength and needs attention in terms of maintenance.
The chief intimated that in 2022 last year, the school was given to contract for maintanance works.
He said the contractor woefully failed to discharge his duties because the community was not ready to give him part payment of the contract fee to enable him execute the project.
As a result the maintenance works on the Basic School have since become standstill and the District Assembly in several appeals have been complaining about lack of funds to help maintain the the school.
As the wooden structures continue to become weaker and weaker to the disadvantage of the community and the school children in general.
The chief indicated that the school is currently confronted with various challenges like weak structure, inadequate leaning materials, desks, teachers accommodation, a situation he said are scaring both teachers and pupils to loose interest in the school.
Nana Kwadwo Mogyie hinted that despite the problems confronting the town on especially, about the school, the area contributes massively to the economic development of the country.
He mentioned cocoa production, other food produce and among others how the community massively voted for the ruling Npp in y last election.
Nana Kwadwo Mogyie hoped that with such contributions, government would be satisfied and put into consideration his humble appeal and help maintain the community’s school for the benefit of the people.
