According to the story by GhanaWeb today Saturday August 2, 2025, the Tamale community was thrown into shock today after a deputy headmaster of a well-known senior high school was severely beaten by angry residents when he was allegedly caught hiding a first-year female student in his apartment.
According to eyewitnesses, residents in the area became suspicious when they noticed the young girl entering the school official’s apartment the previous night and not leaving by morning.
Concerned about her safety, some individuals decided to confront the deputy headmaster, identified as Mr. Samuel Asare. When he refused to open his door, the crowd forcefully broke in and found the frightened student hiding in his bedroom.
A resident, Kwame Yakubu, who witnessed the incident, recounted the shocking moment:
“We heard rumors that this man had been acting inappropriately around some female students, but we had no evidence. When we saw the girl enter his apartment and she didn’t come out, we knew something was wrong. That’s why we took action.”
Upon discovering the girl inside, the enraged crowd dragged Mr. Asare out and subjected him to a brutal beating before the police arrived to rescue him.
The victim, a 14-year-old first-year student, was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation while investigations commenced.
Tamale District Police Commander, DSP Mohammed Issah, confirmed the arrest of Mr. Asare and assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted.
“We are taking this matter very seriously. The girl is safe, and we will ensure that justice is served. We urge the public not to take the law into their own hands but to always report such cases to the authorities,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the school management has distanced itself from the deputy headmaster’s actions, promising full cooperation with the authorities.
Parents and guardians in the area have expressed concerns about student safety and are demanding stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
