Election 2024: Npp boots out Cynthia Morrison, 279 members and poises to hammer more.

With effect from December 16, 2024, the Central Region’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) branch in Agona West Constituency expelled 280 members, including Cynthia Morrison, the current member of parliament.

At a meeting of the Expanded Constituency Executive Committee on December 15, 2024, the decision was made unanimously.

The affected persons are barred from identifying as NPP members, holding party posts, engaging in party activities, or using party flags and symbols for an indefinite period of time as a result of their expulsion.

The expelled members were charged of supporting independent candidates, opposing political parties, or running as independent candidates in the most recent parliamentary election, according to a statement released by Constituency Chairman Alhaji Gibrine Tanko.

The statement said that these acts were against the Constitution of the NPP.

Chairman Tanko underlined that the selection was made in order to preserve party unity and discipline within the constituency. The statement stated that such measures are required by the NPP constitution in order to safeguard the party’s integrity.

In a related development it was gathered that the “Operation dispelling stubborn Npp Sympathizers”would be extended nationwide to clean up the party.
