Election 2024: Vote out Npp and Bawumia to reclaim your economic freedom – political analyst Franklin Oppong urges Ghanaians

As Ghana approaches the pivotal 2024 elections, political analyst Franklin Oppong in Kumasi in the Ashanti region has vehemently urged citizens to reject the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its leader, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In an interview in Kumasi, Oppong described the current administration as a source of “economic slavery,” calling on Ghanaians to take a stand against what he perceives as a despotic and autocratic regime.

According to Oppong, many Ghanaians are increasingly disillusioned with the Npp’s governance, highlighting a slew of socio-economic issues that have plagued the nation during their tenure. He lamented that under the current administration, the majority of the population experiences a stark decline in living standards, characterized by poverty, hunger, inadequate healthcare, and a lack of quality education.

Unemployment rates are soaring, and infrastructural challenges abound, all contributing to a growing sense of despair among citizens.

“Life was bearable under John Mahama,” Oppong stated, drawing a contrast between past and present leadership. He argued that during Mahama’s presidency, citizens enjoyed a higher quality of life, and many felt that their needs were more effectively addressed. Conversely, he accused the Npp government of fostering an environment rife with corruption, indiscipline, and a pervasive culture of lawlessness.

“What’s more alarming,” he added, “is the consistent pattern of administrative lies that leaves citizens feeling like slaves in their own country, bound by an unyielding economic stranglehold.”

Oppong’s comments resonate with a growing sentiment among the populace, who are becoming increasingly vocal about their dissatisfaction. As the nation continues to grapple with these pressing issues, many are calling for a change in leadership in the hopes of revitalizing the economic landscape and restoring the integrity of governance.

He cautioned that the upcoming elections present an essential opportunity for Ghanaians to express their discontent. “This is our moment to show the NPP the red card,” Oppong urged, encouraging voters to use their ballots as a means of liberation from economic hardship and systemic mismanagement.

He believes that a change in leadership could pave the way for a more equitable and prosperous future for all Ghanaians.
