The Electoral Commission of Ghana has officially kicked off the nomination process for the upcoming Council of State elections, scheduled to take place on February 11, 2025, in all regional capitals. This announcement was made through a press release dated January 22, 2025, and signed by the EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa.
The press release outlines the nomination requirements, which include submitting nomination forms accompanied by two recent passport-sized photographs taken against a red background. These submissions will be accepted at the offices of the Regional Directors of the EC from January 28 to 31, 2025, during specified hours of 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM daily.
To be eligible for election, candidates must meet certain requirements, including the endorsement of two registered voters in their region, as well as support from an additional 20 registered voters. Candidates must also provide consent to their nomination. The EC emphasizes that nomination forms must be downloaded from its official website and completed in triplicate before submission.
