A renowned Traditional Priest of Miegyinla a town near Nzolenso in the Western region, Nana Blay Miezah
has suggested that public office holders should be made to swear by the oath of deities or shrines before they can be allowed to assume offices.
Politicians he stated are no longer scared of swearing with the Bible or Qur’an and would always lie under the oath and take their own ways after occupying their portfolios.
Speaking to the correspondent in an exclusive interview, Nana Blay Miezah who was the former Parliamenary candidate for the Jomoro Constituency on the ticket of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in the 2024 elections observed that Ghana has seen many past governments and Heads of State who come and go.
However at the end of thier tenure the citizens complain bitterly and bemoan the lack of quality of life all the time.
According to Nana Blay Miezah the standards of living of the people hardly changed as those past government appointees turn deaf ears to tackle the challenges that confront the citizens.
The truth about these is that during their swearing-in sessions they are made to swear by the symbols of their religion, the traditional priest hinted.
Nana Blay reiterated that the politicians swear and pledge to remain honest and faithful to defend the truth at all times while performing their official duties in favour of Ghana.
The traditional priest intimated that even the President and his Vice also swear by either the Bible or the Quran and both pledged to defend the constitution of the land and protect the public purse and serve in the interest of Ghana.
But at the end of thier tenure it is either party A or party B blaming each other for less performance resulting to the stalled economy to the disadvantage of the citizens.
This is because alleged financial malpractices take the center stage in their administration whilst in government.
To avoid further alleged corruptions to set Ghanaians free from their burdens Nana Blay Meizah suggested that It is now time for the state to make sure that politicians are made to swear by eggs and schnapps.
Nana linked his suggestion to the fact that many politicians especially those placed into the positions of trust don’t fear God but rather the gods of the land whom they believe give instant punishment to the wrongdoers.
Whilst it is evident that many people particularly those in the high offices don’t fear God to do the right thing after swearing in the names of the Bible and Quran when swearing in is made through schnapps and eggs would scare officials from mismanagement.
And thereby curb corruptions in the country for the benefit of the citizens.
