Faction ln The 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies Leadership Crisis Reacts To “Fake Election” Conducted By Acting President
Following an alleged elections conducted by the Acting President of the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies, Macaiah Akwasi Addai on Sunday October 8, 2023 in Kumasi with the aim at electing a substantive president to run the affairs of the church, a faction of the church led by Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr has reacted to the Acting President’s said action, describing his (Macaiah Addai’s) election as fake and an a direct attempt to violated courts verdict which gone against him (Macaiah) and his handful 3 branch followers, reports King Amoah.
The church is currently facing leadership crisis on which faction, Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr a plaintiff/appellant, or the Acting President Macaiah Akwasi Addai defendant is qualified to lead the church through lawful elections based on the court judgements that witnessed the victory of Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr and 21 branches across the country who fully support him (Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr).
According to a press conference held on Sunday October 15, 2023 in Kumasi of which conference proceedings was addressed to Macaiah Addai and copied to the Registries of the High Court and Appeal Court respectively, Registrar General Department, Ashanti regional branch of the Electoral Commission, Solicitors for both parties among others, Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr called on the church members of the 21 branches across the country who kick against Macaiah Addai’s unlawful activities to treat the so-called election with contempt Macaiah Akwasi Addai’s election completely violates the court ruling and the constitution of the church and it also shows gross disrespect to the late president and founder of the church, Elder Enoch Ofori Snr, part of the press conference pointed out.
We publish the full statement of the outcome of the conference unedited:
RE: AND IN THE MATTER OF THE GENERAL MEETING FOR THE SELECTION/ELECTION OF A PRESIDENT OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SEVENTH DAY PENTECOSTAL ASSEMBLIES
We the Plaintiffs in the above- named case write in reaction to media reports of the purported ‘election’ of Micaiah Addai as the new ‘president’ of the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies. The alleged ‘election’ is said to have taken place on Sunday, 8th October, 2023.
We wish to state categorically that there has been no such ‘election’ properly conducted in line with the Constitution of the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal and the Orders of the Superior Courts of Ghana, that is the Court of Appeal in Kumasi and the Supreme Court in Accra, ordering him to hold the election in accordance with the Constitution of the Association and the Judgment of the High Court based on the Terms of Settlement.
Instead, what is being portrayed by Micaiah Addai as an ‘election’ is a shameful charade that violates all norms and rules of a free and fair election as ordered by the above-named Superior Courts of the land.
As we stated in our letter of protest dated 29th September 2023, (a copy of which is attached for ease of reference), written to the Defendant (Micaiah Addai) and copied to the Registries of the Superior Courts among others, Micaiah Addai has, since the Orders of the Superior Courts, harboured the devilish intention to deny the 21 autonomous Assemblies of the Association, whose prayers for the election of the President was heard by the Superior Courts, the right to participate in the election of the President of the Association.
The pivot of his ( Macaiah Addai) grand fraudulent scheme, in the unlawful use of his position as the Acting President, is his unconstitutional insistence that Deacons and Elders who are to attend the General Meeting for the Election of the President should have Ministerial Credentials, a condition which is not provided for anywhere constitution and which he has no capacity to impose.
The Constitution only authorizes the issuance of Ministerial Credentials to trained Ministers or Pastors of the Association. Ironically, because Micai Addai is not a trained Minister of the Association, he does not have a Ministerial Credential or a so-called ‘Pastoral Card’ signed by the late President, Elder Enoch Ofori (Snr). (We attach herewith an Affidavit of the late President prepared by Micaiah Addai’s own lawyer, Mr. Kwame Asiedu-Basoah, which proves that it is only “a Recognized Minister” duly issued with a Ministerial Credential who is qualified for the office of the President of the Association).
The fact that Micaiah Addai has no Ministerial Credential was exposed under cross-examination during the trial at the High Court. No wonder, at the Ashanti Regional Office of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, all he could present as proof of his position as a ‘Pastor’ was a so-called ‘Ministerial Credential’ signed by himself for himself along with 58 others signed for his followers as ‘President’ in violation of the judgment of the Superior Courts which nullified his election as the President of the Association.
It was this attempt to foist this illegality on the Association, while attempting to disqualify our delegates on the basis that they don’t have credentials, that led to the breakdown of the election process at the Electoral Commission of Ghana. Even though unqualified, Micaiah Addai would not back off from his grand rigging scheme, and the outcome is the purported election on 8th October, 2023 in which he was the sole contestant with the ‘delegates’ solely drawn from his anti-Christian faction made up of three branches!
As if that was not enough, the individual named in his letter of 27th September, 2023 as having been appointed by him to “conduct and supervise the election”, Mr. Gabriel Kwasi Fosu, also declined the role in response to the critical issues we raised in our letter of 29th September, 2023 (a copy of which has already been attached).
Yet hell-bent on hijacking the Orders of the Superior Courts in furtherance of his anti-Christian and selfish interests, Micaiah Addai went ahead with the purported ‘election’ under the supervision of one of his surrogates, Deacon Benneh of Berekum.
We wish to refute the palpable falsehood being peddled in sections of the media that all branches of the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies across the country sent delegates to elect Micaiah Addai in a “free and fair election” on Sunday, 8th October, 2023. The fact of the matter is that only three out of twenty-four branches loyal to Micaiah Addai gathered to endorse him as ‘president’ in an unconstitutional and illegal exercise. Of course, Micaiah Addai rightly fears that as a self-declared Antichrist, a practicing polygamist and a convicted wife-snatcher, there is no way the Christian Assemblies of the Association will elect him as the President.
So, his only recourse is to use his non-existing powers to skew the election in his favour.
By this latest sham election, Micaiah Addai has, for the second time, shown gross disrespect to the Orders of the Courts of the land, the larger church community and the memory of the late President and Founder, Elder Enoch Ofori (Snr).
We are by this letter, once again, calling upon him to strictly comply with the peremptory orders of the above-named Superior Courts.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
………………………
Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr
