General Manager of Hello FM nominated to receive top awards from the GJA’s upcoming event.
The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has nominated Mr. Samson K Nyamekye, a celebrated media personality with Despite Media Group for special honours at their upcoming Media Excellence Awards ceremony slated for the 24th day of June 2023.
Mr Nyamekye, who is currently the General Manager of Hello Fm, a subsidiary of Despite Media Group also hosts one of Ashanti’s finest political talk shows termed “Bo Ho Bio” on Wednesdays and Fridays at the station.
In a letter announcing his nomination, the Ashanti GJA said the seasoned journalist would be honoured for his exemplary contribution to the development of journalism and media practice in Ashanti.
The Association noted that it had carefully chosen the veteran broadcaster for the award due to his work ethic and dedication to the development of the Ashanti region.
Background of Sampson Nyamekye;
Samson K Nyamekye hails from the Bono Region town of Goaso.
But has been resident in the Ashanti Region for close to three decades practicing the art and craft he loves so well by reporting on development issues including crime and social empowerment.
Having started out as a print media journalist in the early 90’s, Mr Nyamekye once worked for the famous Independent Newspaper owned by the famous National Media Commission (NMC) Chairman and Ghana’s Ambassador to Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast, Kabral Blay Amihere.
The ambicious and workaholic journalist later joined Despite Media as a reporter and is noted for breaking several high profile national stories including galamsey in Manso Nsiana and the recent one being the shooting of a lady in Adum by a Police man who is currently standing trial for murder.
Elevation:
By dint of hard work and commitment to his job, Dr Osei Kwame Despite, owner of the Despite Group of Companies elevated the affable journalist Sampson K. NYAMEKYE to the position of General Manager of Hello Fm almost a decade ago.
With the passion of journalism still in his bones, Mr Nyamekye still reports to Peace fm and is the senior correspondent to the Despite Media outfits.
The General Manager cum journalist also does live reports on United Television (UTV), another subsidiary of Despite Media.
Additionally, Mr Nyamekye is a famous face and worshipper at Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC), a popular church in Kumasi where he manages the media and publicity activities for the General Overseer, Reverend Ransford Obeng.
This nomination would add up to several recognitions he has gotten from other institutions and companies in the course of hia work.
