Government Nominee Got Simple Majority To Be Confirmed As Mce.
The MCE nominee for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality Mr Paul Andoh has been confirmed after he won simple majority votes from the Assemblymembers who took part in the elections yesterday, May 4 2023 at the Assembly’s premises.
According to our Correspondent, Hon Andoh pulled 36 votes out of the 51 assembly members present with one absentee assemblyman.
Per the Local Government Act, the MCE nominee would need two thirds of the Assembly members present to be confirmed.
In yesterday’s elections 51 assembly members took part and Mr. Paul Andoh pulled 36 votes, making it a simple majority.
Jubilation according to the Correspondent, however was high when the results were announced about the Mce’s confirmation.
Meanwhile by the victory of Hon Paul Andoh supporters of the Npp have extended their appreciations to the government for the nomination and hoped that this is a sign of the beginning where development projects would be spread across the Municipality for the benefit of all.
