GPRTU chairman praises government over fuel reduction.
The Kumasi – Atonsu Sofoline Super branch chairman of the Ghana Private Road & Transport Union (Gprtu) Mr Albert .K. Boamah has congratulated the government over the reduction of fuel cost which took off on Tuesday May 16,2023.
Speaking to the Correspondent in an interview, chairman Boamah related that government has set a records since the continuous reductions of fuel prices in the recent times can be seen as a historic issue.
Mr Boama entreated the government to maintain the system in which they apply to reduce the fuel prices every time to benefit Ghanaians.
The chairman attributed the high cost of living to the persistent increases in fuel prices, indicating that now that such problems are under control the country will soon be relieved from its challenges especially on the areas of food market.
Mr Boamah urged the various transport unions to be law abiding and ensure that all their drivers comply fully to the new fares to ensure peaceful coexistence in the transport industry.
This is a government directives and as such we need to comply for our own benefit, Boamah stated.
Having made his opinion clearly to understand, he touched down on the illegal activities of flouting drivers who see nothing wrong with their actions that create credibility problems in the society.
Chairman Boamah reiterated that the flouting drivers are always the sources who create confusions in the driving sector.
They don’t belong to any union, inexperienced and disregard government directives when fares are reduced.
And through their actions road accidents greets the country, the chairman hinted.
Mr Boama said it is against this background, hence he is calling on the police administration to intensify their road checks and bring such flouting drivers to book to serve as deterrent to others who intend to disobey the laws of the land.
