The Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema Central Constituency, Honourable Ebi Bright yesterday 9th August 2024 met with all teachers in the constituency at Hotel Joecarl as she engaged them in regards to their working conditions as teachers in the constituency.
The meeting had not less than hundred teachers coming from both the public and private schools, thus, from Basic School Teachers to the Senior High School Teachers across the constituency. In the course of engagement, she categorically pinpointed it to the teachers that, they only go on the streets to showcase their displeasure to any government when it has to do with their salary increments or delays.
She said this whiles addressing a plight of the teachers with regards to their take home before vacation.
“You deserve clarity where your vacation is concerned, not only that, I don’t know how much money you are able to save up before you go on vacation.
But let me not talk about that, because you know what! I will accuse you Teachers, Nurses, every professional in Ghana. The only time we hear you agitating or demonstrating when we want to make increase.”
“You don’t demonstrate about the conditions of your classrooms, about the unavailability of materials to teach, about lack of opportunities for you to improve yourselves.
You’re only demonstrating about the pay, I want to encourage you to demonstrate about all those things. I know John Mahama is going to come and take that heat, but I don’t mind, that’s a challenge that we are going to inherit” She said.
Honourable Ebi Bright is poised to winning this year’s December 7th elections since the incumbent Member of Parliament is an outgoing one from the side of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
