The chief of Denanse a town along the Kumasi-Offinso road in the Ashanti Region, Nana Atonsa Yiadom II has hinted that he is prepared to report to Asantehene for attention, the chiefs who collaborate with the illegal miners to destroy the lands in the Ashanti Region.
According to him he was extremely convinced about the decision which the occupant of the Golden Stool have taken to discourage the activities of illegal mining in the Ashanti Region.
Readers can recalled that in somewhere last year 2022, Otumfuo openly expressed worry about the rising trend in which galamsey operations have been destroying the country’s environment, especially in the Ashanti Region.
As a result he has taken measures to foil the operations to restore the lands to its fertility.
To realize the agenda Asantehene has warned chiefs who give away lands to the illegal miners to refrain from the act or risk face his wrath.
With effect from this month January 2023, Otumfuo said he will sanction chiefs who would be found culpable in collaborating with the galamseyers who destroy the country’s arable lands.
But reacting to Otumfuo’s decision, Denansehene commended the King for the move.
He stressed that the agenda is the best alternative way that could end the fight against the illegal mining activities in the country.
Denansehene who also doubles as the Otumfuo’s Atenehene said to ensure that the move of the King yields fruit he is up to give information to the Manhyia Palace when he comes across any chief in the act of siding with the galamsey operators who destroy the lands in the region for action.
Nana Atonsa Yiadom II praised Otumfuo for the decision and called on other , chiefs in the Ashanti Region to fully back King Solomon to realize his agenda for not only the region alone, but also the entire country as a whole.
Otumfuo’s Atenehene urged the traditional authorities in the country to join Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in his quest to halt illegal mining in the country for the interest of all Ghanaians.
He said if Otumfuo’s agenda is fully embraced by the traditional authorities who are the custodians of the lands in the country, it will go a long way to positively address the mining menace to restore the country’s lands from total destruction.
