The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed all Nigeria Police Force commands to implement a comprehensive action plan to cut crime rates by 50% in 2025.

He issued this directive at the opening of the 5th Annual Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The theme of the 2025 conference, ‘Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing,’ aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s security vision.

IGP Egbetokun emphasised the commitment to intelligence-driven policing and collaboration with the military and other agencies to tackle banditry, kidnapping, and organised crime effectively.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, also announced plans to equip the police with electric motorcycles and partner with a French company to provide drones capable of detecting crime from 8,000 feet.
