Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has openly defied the party’s Disciplinary Committee, describing its summons as worthless.

In a strongly worded statement captured in a news alert on 22nd August 2026, the former Assin Central Member of Parliament said he has been invited four times by the committee but has no intention of appearing.
“They have called me four times, and I will never go there. Disciplinary Committee, my foot! They can go to hell,” Agyapong stated.
The outburst is the latest in a series of clashes between the outspoken businessman and the NPP leadership. Since the party’s 2023 presidential primaries, in which he placed second to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Agyapong has remained a vocal critic of what he describes as internal injustice, selective application of party rules, and mistreatment of grassroots members.

Known for his blunt and unfiltered style, Agyapong has often accused the party establishment of targeting his supporters while overlooking similar conduct by others aligned with the leadership.
The NPP’s Disciplinary Committee is constitutionally mandated to enforce party discipline, summon members whose public utterances or actions are deemed to bring the party’s name into disrepute, and recommend sanctions where necessary. However, its recent attempts to rein in high-profile figures have been met with resistance and public backlash.
Political analysts say Agyapong’s latest comments underscore deeper cracks within the NPP as it prepares for a crucial rebuilding phase in opposition after losing the 2024 general elections. The party has been struggling to enforce unity among its various factions, with supporters of Bawumia and Agyapong still at odds.
As of the time of this report, the NPP Disciplinary Committee has not officially responded to Agyapong’s comments. It remains unclear whether the party will escalate the matter or seek an alternative resolution to avoid further public division.
