Let Us Stop Playing Politics With The National Heath Insurance Scheme – Maxwell Mahama To Ghanaians.
Now, the National Health Insurance Scheme will sanction any provider who would attempt to request any unauthorised payments from NHIS active subscribers in the name of co-payment.
I can confidently say that the NHIS does not owe providers claims reimbursement, since all arrears have been paid by NHIA to our cherished providers, Mr Maxwell Mahama has disclosed.
Mr. Maxwell Mahama who doubles as the Jaman South Municipal Manager of the NHIS in an interview with the media observed that the non compliance with the tariffs and medicine lists are where the problems come from.
It is a big issue, he pointed out, and stressed that the extortions are too much in the scheme.
Now, it appears that some providers do not care about timely payments.
Some have institutionalized unauthorized payments, and by law, we need to sanction them for that the outspoken manager hinted.
The Manager said we ought to act, and we shall act positively to shape the system, he told the media.
This is because if we do not put our collective efforts together and cherish the NHIS as a national asset and sustain it, it will collapse.
Mr Maxwell Mahama took the opportunity to entreat the general public and all those persons who have been affected by co-payments, illegal charges or who fallen victim to such unauthorised payments to kindly report such cases to the nearest NHIS office for assistance,
He indicated that the NHIS is the longest government social intervention policy from 2003 to date, and accordingly advise Ghanaians to embrace it and avoid smuggling political issues into it to derail such flagship policy to the disadvantage of Ghananaians.
