The Professional Forum Youth Commission of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned a recent statement by the Member of Parliament for Koforidua Constituency Hon. Okyere Baafi in which he ((Mp) allegedly branded the Ashanti Region NDC as an anti Ashanti political party.
The Youth Commission has described the MP’s remarks as reckles and an attempt to incite public hatred against the regional party and by extension the entire NDC at the national level.
In a strong worded press release issued today May 1st. 2026 and signed by Mr. Benjamin Afram, Deputy National Youth Commissioner, the commission expressed profound disappointment with the Koforidua MP’s approach.

According to Mr Afram instead of committing to peace, unity, and defending the trut Hon. Okyere Baafi resorts to dirty politics against political opponent to score cheap popularity.
Mr. Afram categorically dismissed the MP’s allegations as fabricated and emphasized that the NDC champions inclusive governance across all regions of Ghana.
He further highlighted the party’s recognition and appreciation for the vital role played by government workers, particularly those at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in Kumasi whose contributions the Ashanti NDC deeply cherishes.
It is disheartening that at a time when we should be leveraging democracy to promote peace, unity, and freedom for Ghanaians Hon. Okyere Baafi would use an issue like power outages to create divisions among Ghanaians. Mr. Afram stated.
Consequently the Commission cautioned public office holders to refrain from abusing their positions and to speak the truth for the betterment of the nation.
Mr. Afram seized the opportunity to advise Ghanaians especially residents within Kumasii. to treat Hon. Okyere Baafi’s inciting statement with contempt.
He reiterated that neither the Ashanti NDC nor any of its officials harbor any ill intentions towards the people of Ashanti or ECG officials concerning power outagesto the contrary to the portrayal by the Koforidua MP.
TheCommission stressed that the NDC remains committed to national unity and inclusive development for all Ghanaians.
