Npp Constituency Secretary Slams Dr Theophilus Acheampong Over IMF Loan Assertion Against Nana Addo
The Kumasi Old Tafo Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (Npp) Mr Osei Tutu has reacted to Dr Theophilus Acheampong’s recent statement, that suggested that President Nana Akuffo Addo’s assurance that the IMF would approve the Ghana’s bail out loan by the end of March would not be possible.
Dr.Theophilus Acheampong is an Economist and Political Risk Analyst who recently allegedly challenged Nana Akuffo Addo that the approval of the IMF loan giving the deadline for March ending this year cannot be possible.
The learned Economist justified his reasons with number of points on why Nana Akuffo Addo’s deadline could not be justified.
But according to the Kumasi Old Tafo Constituency Secretary of the ruling Npp government, he described Dr Theophilus Acheampong’s statement as a ‘rush’.
Mr Osei Tutu said the IMF loan is a sensitive issue in the country and that Nana Akuffo Addo as a President of the land cannot just come out to assure Ghanaians about the update of the loan.
The Secretary noted that the President works with the National Economic Team (NET) and believes that based on team work and what is transpiring between government and IMF hence the president was able to come out with the deadline.
Mr Osei Tutu expressed worry that it is high time Ghanaians always use politics in issues that would benefit the country.
The Secretary therefore passionately appealed to Dr. Theophilus Acheampong to exercise restraint and wait for the deadline when he could challenge the President when Ghanaians see nothing after the deadline as announced by the President.
