Npp urged to apologize to Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah for party reorganization

By King Amoah

A prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Paul Kwabena Yandoh, has issued a fervent call for the party leadership to apologize to Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, founder of Glorious Word Power Chapel.

Mr. Yandoh, a former Campaign Team Member for Dr. Bawumia in the Ashanti region and current Ashanti regional Director of Communications for the NPP, believes this reconciliation is crucial for the party’s reorganization and future success.

In an exclusive telephone interview, Mr. Yandoh, who also serves as Secretary to the Strategic Communication Committee of the Ashanti region, emphasized that the party’s neglect of Rev. Owusu Bempah during his legal troubles was a significant misstep. He stated that this treatment did not sit well with the clergy and highlighted that Rev. Owusu Bempah has been a longstanding supporter and a spiritual pillar for the NPP.

“Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah was and is a family member and prophet of the NPP,” Mr. Yandoh asserted. “There is no reason why such a prominent man of God should be neglected by the party at a time he was in trouble. He has in various ways been the backbone and spiritual leader in the NPP’s victories. His neglect at the time he was arrested was not the best.”

Mr. Yandoh believes that bringing Rev. Owusu Bempah back into the fold is vital for the party’s prospects in the upcoming 2028 elections. He explained that certain elements within the party, who think they are “untouchable” and dismissive of advice, are partly responsible for the rift with the popular pastor. He believes this attitude has contributed to recent electoral setbacks for the NPP.

Mr. Yandoh strongly urged the NPP to extend an immediate apology to Rev. Owusu Bempah to resolve any lingering suspicions. He personally offered to lead a delegation to meet with the man of God on this apology mission, underscoring his commitment to reconciliation.

To further illustrate the importance of this move, Mr. Yandoh referenced a previous encounter between former President John Dramani Mahama and Rev. Owusu Bempah. He noted that Mahama had invited the pastor to his residence for prayers, even going so far as to ask for forgiveness if he had offended any pastors.

Mr. Yandoh implied that this gesture may have contributed to Mahama’s political successes and suggested the NPP would be wise to follow suit. He concluded that rendering an apology to Rev. Owusu Bempah is the best course of action for the NPP to take to rebuild its base and strengthen its spiritual foundation.
