Official of Cocoa Produce Buying Company calls for effective funding of the sector.
The Amansie South District Manager of Cocoa Produce Buying Company (PBC), Mr. Omono Asamoah, has stressed the need for the government to inject more funds, especially
working capital into the company so that PBC can funhion well in the country.
Speaking to the correspondent in an exclusive interview, Mr Asamoah stated that since 1999, Produce Buying Comp has been given the approval to work on its own, yet no working capital was given to the Company to ensure effective operations.
The officer indicated that the officials who have been given the mandate to manage the company use loans to work, and because of this they can’t move the company to the right direction as they operate through loans.
“He said not long ago the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cocoa Board, Mr. Joseph Boahen Adu, said staff of PBC are collapsing the company, an allegation he said, was unfounded.
He stressed that for the past eight months families of PBC workers are suffering because they don’have money to take care of them.
“Mr Omono Asamoah on this note passionately pleaded with the president and vice president to, as a matter of urgency, pump money into the company so that it could survive.
Mr Asamoah said they don’t want the company to collapse under the regime of His Excellence Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo and Dr. Bawumia, because if it happens so Ghanaians will criticize or blame them.
