For what they described it as an emergency press conference, Members of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly on Friday October 16 2026 extended an urgent call on President John Dramani Mahama to remove the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mrs Jerryne Asante, within one week or they will advise themselves on what next they should do when President Mahama fails to respond positively.

The MCE has been accused of undermining the Assembly’s decisions and mismanaging the Municipal’s resources.

The Honourables say they are renewing their demand for the MCE’s removal per the conference they have been held that allegedly implicated the MCE Mrs Jerryme Asante in multiple scandals amidst violations of the Local Government regulations that govern Assembly functions across the country

Addressing the conference, the spokesperson for the Assemblymembers, Hon George Kuntu Blankson, who represents the Kwamo Electoral Area alleged that Ms Asante has colluded with the Municipal Head of Works to issue a fraudulent building permit receipt and using her official vehicle to facilitate alleged extortions by the Municipal Engineer.

Hon Kuntu Blankson also accused her of seeking to transfer the Municipal Finance Officer and failing to addres the worsening sanitation challenges in the municipality.

The Assembly Members said the alleged actions of the MCE have been undermining the decisions taken by the Assembly.

They cited a disputes over the enforcement of a High Court order to demolish a building encroaching on a road at Achiakrom and the removal of laterite dumped on a wetland along the River Baffoe on the Ejisuman Senior High School road.

They further raised two issues at the previous press conference held on July 24, 2026, accusing Ms Asante of failing to act and giving her one week notice to resign or be replaced.

They said no action had been taken sine two months after when the conference was held, thus prompting them to renew their appeal to the President.

More than two months after our press conference, no action has been taken and this suggests that
both the MCE and the President didn’t take our resolution seriously Hon Blankson stated.

The Assembly Members indicated that
failure to address their concerns have been weakened their authority and further straining their relationship with the municipal administration.

Whilst we support President John Dramani Mahama’s initiatives towards developmental agenda across the country, would not continue to work with an MCE who takes decisions on her own to deny the citizens their rights to enjoy basic facilities within their area.

Hence our one week ultimatum to the President to remove the Municipal Chief Executive for the sake of peace in the Assembly
Blankson reiterated.
