A wave of jubilation has swept through the camps of Kennedy Agyepong’s supporters across the Ashanti Region following the firebrand politician’s decision to reject a recent appointment offered by the former Vice President who is the current NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Reports reaching this website indicate that the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central turned down the position of Deputy Director of Employment within the NPP’s campaign structure.
For many of Agyepong’s loyalists the offer was not just underwhelming but it was perceived as a “stab in the back” given Agyepong’s decades of political experience and his significant influence within the party.
The sentiment on the ground is that the appointment did not reflect the stature of the man who challenged Dr. Bawumia in the party’s presidential primaries.

Supporters argue that offering a peripheral role to a political heavyweight like Agyepong’s caliber serves to marginalize his potential impact. We are proud of Hon. Kennedy Agyepong for his bold initiative to reject this offer, one supporter observed.
It proves to Ghanaians that Kennedy is not a small team player who can be silenced with a token appointments.
In Obuasi a local party stalwart Kofi Kingston expressed a nuanced view.
While he was thankful that Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the need for Kennedy Agyepong’s involvement, he maintained that the specific role offered was beneath the former MP’s dignity and capacity.
Similarly in Offinso Bright Afful could not hide his appreciation for the decision.
Afful emphasized that Agyepong’s refusal to accept a diminished role reinforces his commitment to the party’s long term health rather than settling for mere titles.
While the supporters expressed their frustrations over the perceived slight, the prevailing mood is one of a forward looking loyalty.
Many of those interviewed signaled that they remain steadfast in their support for Kennedy Agyepong specifically positioning their allegiance around his vision for the party’s future.
At a time where the party yearns for powe we expected our leaders to be placed in a sensitivee and strategic positions that could actually help the NPP to win victory, another supporter noted
Despite the dissatisfaction with the party’s current hierarchy the supporters remained resolute.
They maintained that they will continue to follow Kennedy Agyepong’s lead as he works to ensure that the NPP wins the 2028 elections.
As the NPP navigates its internal dynamics the rejection of the appointment by such a prominent figure serves as a stark reminder of the delicate balance required to maintain unity within the party.
For now, the narrative in the Ashanti Region is clear:
Kennedy Agyepong’s supporters are standing firm to prioritize respect and strategic value over party protocol.
