The political atmosphere in Ghana has reached a boiling point following the sudden and controversial arrest of Dennis Miracle Aboagye a lead spokesman for the former Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.
The incident has triggered a wave of widespread condemnation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and various civil groups who have labeled the move as a calculated act of political intimidation.
According to reports, Mr. Aboagye was apprehended at a location in Accra by the operatives of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) while he was in the process of preparing for an upcoming journey.

Since the arrest, the whereabouts of the NPP stalwart have remained a mystery.
Family members and senior party leadership have expressed deep frustration and alarm noting that neither the specific location of his detention nor the official charges brought against him have been disclosed.
Breaking the party’s silence on the matter, the NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua addressed the nation during a broadcast on the Kumasi based Opemsuo FM.
Mr. Kodua did not mince words, characterizing the arrest as an unlawful deprivation of liberty and a dangerous escalation of political hostilities.
“We do not know his whereabouts and he has not been informed of any charges against him,” Kodua stated.
We are calling on the current administration to immediately release Dennis Aboagye.
We cannot allow this kind of lawlessness to persist, as it only serves to heighten national tension.
Fears of Political Witch Hunting:
Political analysts and observers have been quick to link the arrest to Mr. Aboagye’s recent public posture.
In the weeks leading up to his detention, Aboagye had been a fierce critic of the current administration, consistently highlighting the government’s failure to fulfill its campaign promises
He has been a vocal voice against the prevailing economic hardships facing Ghanaians, often contrasting their struggles with the alleged opulence enjoyed by state officials and members of the ruling NDC.
Critics of the government believe that the arrest is a direct attempt to silence a key political strategist, describing it as an act of political witch hunting intended to stifle dissent and intimidate the opposition ahead of future political activities.
Calls for Protest:
The NPP has signaled that it is prepared to escalate its response if the government fails to provide transparency regarding Mr. Aboagye’s status.
General Secretary Justin Kodua confirmed that the party is preparing for mass demonstrations with plans to converge on the premises of the EOCO office to register their formal protest.
The NPP will not sit idle while our members are snatched from the streets without due process, Kodua added.
As the NPP continues its frantic search for their colleague and the public awaits official word on the charges against Miracle Aboagye, the nation remains on edge.
The incident marks a significant deterioration in the political climate, raising questions about the rule of law and the treatment of political opponents in the country.
Stay tuned as we continue to track this developing story and provide updates on the Npp’s upcoming demonstrations and the status of Dennis Aboagye.
