GHANASS Headmistress interdicted over alleged unauthorized selling of items to SHS 1 students.

Patience Naki Mensah, the Headmistress of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) in Koforidua, has been interdicted by the Ghana Education Service (GES) for her alleged involvement in selling unauthorized items to Form One students reporting to the school.

This comes as another blow to the education sector, with Mrs. Mensah joining the ranks of Headteachers facing scrutiny for purportedly charging unapproved fees in the wake of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy implementation.

The decision to interdict Madam Mensah was announced in a press release issued by the Eastern Regional Director of Education, Mrs. Ivy Asantewaa Owusu, on Thursday, December 7. The release indicated that the headmistress has been directed to step aside to allow for a thorough investigation into the allegations made against her.

According to the press release, the Ghana Education Service has received information about the unauthorized sale of various items to Form One students reporting to GHANASS. The list of items includes ceremonial cloth, track suits, and other miscellaneous items. The sale of these items allegedly took place without proper authorization, prompting the need for a comprehensive investigation.

The GES has urged Mrs. Mensah to step aside with immediate effect, emphasizing the importance of a thorough investigation into the allegations. This step is crucial to maintain the integrity of the education system and ensure that all stakeholders adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Ghana Education Service.

The alleged unauthorized sale of items to Form One students raises concerns about transparency and adherence to established guidelines. The outcome of the investigation will undoubtedly shape the future actions taken by the Ghana Education Service in its ongoing efforts to uphold the principles of the Free SHS policy.
