We are ready to meet our tax obligations but what process should we pass through – GPRTU chairman asks government.
Mr Albert K Boamah who doubles as the Kumasi – Sofoline Super branch chairman of the Ghana Private Road &Transport Union (Gprtu) has observed that government has declared its intentions to bring back the road toll tax for the attention of drivers.
Chairman Boamah said the news is welcome as drivers are waiting for the time that the supposed tax would take off.
Chairman Boamah who also doubles as the Terminal chairman of the Sofoline Super terminal alleged that the transport unions have not received any circulars from the government indicating the start time of tax collections, it has come to his notice that some people posing as government tax officials have been collecting monies from drivers.
According to him in order to set the records straight to avoid confusions in the society, hence he wants clarification from the government.
Mr Boama also wanted to know from the government the criteria of paying such.taxes on either through banks or momo money system and when the tax implementation took off.
He said clarification of this issue would go a long way to enable drivers to meet their tax obligations to help government to fix the economy.
