A founding member of the National Democratic Congress, Ato Ahwoi, clashed with broadcaster Paul Adom-Otchere during a live discussion on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, accusing him of stirring mischief in the party’s affairs.
Mr Ahwoi called into the programme on Friday to express anger over comments made by Adom-Otchere while reacting to a poll by Global Info Analytics. The poll ranked Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu as the strongest potential NDC presidential candidate for the 2028 election.
“He is on a mischief assignment. He should concentrate on his NPP issues while we focus on our NDC matters,” Mr Ahwoi said. He further directed Adom-Otchere to “please keep quiet and shut your mouth and let Mahama rule.”
“It is not yet time to select a flagbearer. Mahama has 4 years and he has done only 9 months.” Mr Ahwoi added
Mr Ahwoi questioned why Adom Otchere was predicting the NDC’s next leader when the party’s government had only been in office for nine months. He also accused Metro TV of deliberately featuring Adom Otchere to sow confusion.
Responding on the show, host Moro Awudu dismissed claims of bias, saying the production team followed a rigorous process in selecting guests. “There is no calculated effort to feature Paul Adom Otchere to create mischief,” he explained, stressing that all guests speak for themselves and not for the station.
Adom Otchere also rejected the criticism, saying his comments were not personal but based on the findings of the poll. “These are not my statements. It is a survey conducted by Global Info Analytics,” he said.
“I don;t wish the NDC evil because I have friends in the NDC” Paul added.
