A prominent Kumasi based journalist, King Amoah has lodged a formal petition with the Legal Council of Ghana calling for an investigation into the professional conduct of a local legal practitioner Kwame Assiedu Basoah Esq who operates Kab Legal Consult ( Adanseman Chambers)
Citing alleged incompetence and a pattern of delaying tactics Amoah’s petition letter dated January 2026 to the Council seeks sanctions against Basoah including the revocation of his license to practice law.
The journalist’s petition is grounded in the legal framework established by Article 1960, Section 32 of Act 3, and Section 8(1) of Act 3, which along with the Legislative Instrument (LI) 613, empower the Legal Council to oversee professional standards, practices, and sanctions concerning lawyers.
King Amoah asserted that these regulations also permit public to petition when individuals feel aggrieved by the conduct of legal practitioners towards plaintiffs or defendants in legal matters.
King Amoah’s petition specifically focuses on a protracted church litigation involving the Association of Seventh Day Pentecostal Assemblies.
The core of the dispute centered on leadership elections and the adherence to the church’s constitution, a conflict that has been ongoing since 2008.
The case involves plaintiff Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr and others and defendant Macaiah Akwasi Addai both members of the church.
As a journalist who has extensively covered the proceedings across various courts including the Supreme, Appeal and High Courts, King Amoah claims that his close examination of the case and the pursuit of a just resolution for proper church leadership elections are being undermined by the actions of Lawyer Basoah.
He said Lawyer Basoah represents the defendant, Macaiah Akwasi Addai..
According to Amoah whenever court rulings have gone against Basoah’s defence the lawyer consistently filed Stay of Execution applications against lawful verdict .
The journalist alleged that while both parties sought a clear interpretation of the church’s constitution for lawful elections Basoah’s client, at one point secretly organized what are described as fake elections and fraudulently declared that the Supreme Court of Ghana had declared him as the president of the church
This action reportedly led to contempt proceedings against the defendant at the Supreme Court Accra, yet Basoah filed proceedings on behalf of his client containing his alleged apologies for daring to use the name of the Apex Court ot Nation to perpetuate fraud.
Further compounding the journalist’s concerns Amoah stated that despite a High Court verdict in Kumasi on December 18, 2025 which presumably did not favor Basoah’s client, the lawyer filed another Stay of Execution opposing the court’s decision.
However when this new case was scheduled to be heard on Wednesday January 21, 2026, at the Kumasi High Court both Lawyer Basoah and his client Macaiah Akwasi Addai were conspicuously absent.
King Amoah expresses dismay at this conduct that have been characterizing Lawyer Basoah’s consistent and frivolous appeals as a deliberate attempt to delay justice and erode the integrity of the judicial system.
He believes that his petition to the Legal Council which is the apex regulatory body of the Ghana’s judiciary is a necessary step to ensure accountability.
The journalist further declared his readiness to present his case before the Legal Council’s panelists.
He claims to have possessed documentary evidence and audio recordings that will substantiate his allegations and demonstrate that Lawyer Basoah is not a competent legal professional, thus warranting the withdrawal of his license to practice.
24th January 2026
Signed: King Amoah.
