The arrest which occurred on the 29th of June, 2026 at approximately 8: 30 am has raised serious questions about internal party power struggles and the abuse of authority.

Sources close to the situation alleged that the MCE, despite belonging to the same political party has initiated a series of actions leading to the chairman’s detention on charges of fraud among others.

Allegations of Political Maneuvering:
After noticing that the MCE was the complainant on the docket at the court, everybody was surprised particularly after he denied that he knew nothing at the court.

The charges against Chairman Nana Kofi Atokyi are widely perceived by party insiders as politically motivated and a deliberate attempt to dent the reputation of the Chairman.

The arrest was further described as a designed plot to neutralize a rival and consolidate power within the party structure ultimately tarnish the image of the Chairman and supposedly disrupt his chances in the upcoming elections.

The MCE’s alleged involvement in conniving and directing law enforcement agencies, even while operating within the same part has drawn sharp criticism especially when he allegedly secretly connived with one journalist to arrest one of the top communicators in the party.

This move is seen by many as a blatant attempt to undermine the chairman’s authority and potentially pave the way for the MCE or a favored successor to assume greater control over party affairs in the upcoming electoral processes.

The Member of Parliament Honorable Nicholas Amankwah and some of the Constituency executives led by the Secretary, the Party’s Council of Elders, Nananom and a number of party activists were present at the chairman’s premises to show love and solidarity after he gained his freedom.

The arrest has ignited a firestorm of debate within the party and the wider community.

Supporters of Chairman Nana Kofi Atokyi are decrying the MCE’s actions as a betrayal of party’s principles and a dangerous precedent for intra-party democracy.

Conversely, allies of the MCE are defending his actions, citing the need to uphold the law and address any alleged wrongdoing, regardless of political affiliation.

The situation has created a deep rift within the NDC with members calling for transparency and a thorough impartial investigation into the MCE’s alleged role in the chairman’s arrest.

In the coming days party activists are expected to see further developments as the party grapples with internal crisis.

At the heart of the matter, lawyers of Chairman Nana Kofi Atokyi were able to secure a bail for him after praying to the court.

This is unfortunate, heartbreaking story in the history of Amenfi East politics, particularly in the NDC would. forever. remain in memory for the next generation to come.

We therefore plead with the general public to disregard all the defamation attempts on the character of the Chairman, Hon Moses. Kwame Agetuah party Secretary told journalists.

This explicitly tells everybody in this Municipality the kind of MCE we have and his intentions against Party members and how unsafe the constituency is and the blink future that poses for party members.

The Chairman together with his party members are grateful with the siting Judge and party’s Council of Elders, Nananom and the entire public of.whom.through their support and prayers was set free.

Stay tuned.
