Students of Krachi West Senior High School call for the removal of headmaster…over poor feeding and accommodation services.

Information reaches this website from the Krachi West Senior High School in the Oti region indicates that the students are calling for the removal of their headmaster, Mr.Cole Emmanuel.

According to the students who separately spoke to newsmen at the school on a fact finding mission, the headmaster was reportedly making things difficult for them and as a result, some of them have allegedly contracted with skin diesease among other bodily challenges.

So far about 190 male and 10 female students respectively in the school have been contracted with skin diesease, body iching and other pains, according to the investigations carried out by the Krachi West Health Directorate on August 14, 2023.

Mr Cole Emmanuel was said to have assumed office in 2023, adding that since he assumed office the students have been allegedly feeling uncomfortable as a result of his (headmaster’s) alleged less attention paid towards the welfare of the students.

Our headmaster is allegedly violating the rules that govern the free senior high policies, the students asserted.

Some of the alleged charges levelled against Mr Cole Emmanuel include his inability to oversee to it that proper meals are served to the students, regular maintenance of bedding facilities among other boarding issues for the students.

A student alleged that most of the school’s beds have been infected with bedbugs and several reports to the school authorities have yielded no positive response.

Another worrying issues that the students placed on records was the fact that they allegedly underfeed with daily rice and gari without either fish, beans or eggs and moreover no day student is served with one square meal according to the school feeding program policy which mandate day students to enjoy a square meal a day.

Furthermore they alleged how the headmaster have been using the school’s KIA truck to carry out his private business and no one dare to challenge him apparently out of fear.

We strongly appeal to the government to dispatch independent investigators to the school to investigate the allegations on whether we are lying about the headmaster or not, some aggrieved students who stressed their readiness to volunteer information and cooperate with any government investigator who would be dispatched to the school hinted.

The students strongly believes that the various diesease including the current skin diesease (lesions) outbreak at the school can be linked to poor feeding, poor accommodation facilities among others.

This is the reason why we find it prudent to go public and draw government attention to what is happening to the students at the Krachi West Senior High School for urgent attention.

We also implore the government to ask for a copy of the full reports of the Krachi West Health Directorate, their findings about the health conditions of the 190 male and 10 female students who have allegedly contracted with serious skin diesease among others and the cause of their sickness.

Meanwhile in a 15 page investigations reports from the Krachi West Health Directorate of which the Correspondent has laid hands on a copy, the health team allegedly linked some of the diesease outbreak at the school to among others, improper feeding of the students, bad accommodation services and acts of indiscipline among the students body which allegedly goes unchecked, and advised that the school authorities need to consult the Environmental team of the District Assembly for advise on the issues that relate to the school’s environment.

When the correspondent phoned the headmaster of the school, Mr Emmanuel Cole for his side version of the allegations, he refused to comment, however he voluntarily asserted that he knows his enemies in the allegations after which he hanged up his phone.

On his part, the Oti Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service Nana Kugbeadzor Bakateyi II who happens to be the brother in law of Mr Cole Emmanuel headmaster of the Krachi West Senior High School flatly refused to cooperate with a word that the media has nothing to do with the challenges confronting the students and the school in general.

We publish below parts of the Krachie West Health Directorate’s findings of which we have laid hands on the copy in addition to to some pictures.
