President John Dramani Mahama made a special visit to the Ebenezer Worship Center in Ahenema Kokoben on Saturday, January 19th, 2024, to express his gratitude to the church’s founder and leader, Rev. Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, also known as Opambour.
This visit comes after Mahama’s victory in the December 7th elections, a triumph he attributes, in part, to the prayers and prophesies of Rev. Adarkwa Yiadom.
The President, accompanied by a large entourage, arrived at the church to personally thank Opambour for his unwavering commitment to speaking the truth, a quality he believes is essential for a true man of God. In his address, Mahama acknowledged the challenges faced by individuals in Kumasi, particularly religious leaders, who openly express support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He highlighted Opambour’s courage in making divine pronouncements about the NDC’s potential victory, despite the potential backlash. According to President Mahama, it was this faith and the divine contributions of Opambour and his congregation that inspired his visit to the church’s headquarters.
He expressed his desire to thank God and seek further prayers as he prepares to assume office and serve the people of Ghana.
President Mahama emphasized the importance of divine guidance, adding that he believes his victory was partly facilitated by God, and by extension, the prayers offered by Reverend Yiadom and his congregants.
Opambour, visibly moved by the President’s visit, reciprocated by assuring Mahama of his unwavering support. He clarified that the prophecy that predicted Mahama’s victory was not his own doing, but a miracle from God.
“It was not from me, Rev. Adarkwa Yiadom, but rather it was a miracle from God who deserves honor.” He emphasized that he and his prayer warriors would continue to pray for the President as he takes on the task of leading the nation and addressing its economic challenges.
Opambour also stated his commitment to supporting Mahama’s government, ensuring that “it gains root” and is successful in its endeavors for Ghana.
The visit underscores the significance of faith and religious leaders in Ghanaian politics. It also highlights the personal connection between President Mahama and Rev. Adarkwa Yiadom, particularly the mutual respect and appreciation between the two public figures. President Mahama’s public act of thanksgiving demonstrates the importance he places on the spiritual aspect of leadership and the role of religious institutions in the nation’s development.
The event also served as an opportunity to rally prayers as the President takes on the work required to address the nation’s challenges.
