The political landscape of Ghana is bracing for a potential seismic shift as rumors intensify that the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong intends to form a political party dubbed, Base Party to contest in the 2028 general elections.
Amidst frosty relationship with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership, sources close to the outspoken businessman indicate that he is laying the groundwork for a new political movement: the Base Party (BP) to emerge.
A Pattern of Defiance:
The speculation follows an alleged breakdown in communication between Mr. Agyepong and the NPP’s National hierarchy.
According to reports Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyepong has reportedly boycotted four consecutive high level executive meetings.
The Correspondent gathered that this friction reached at a boiling point when insiders claimed that the former legislator bluntly dismissed the party’s invitations and told the leadership to “go to hell”.
This alleged open defiance was seen as a clear signal that the once loyal stalwart was distancing himself from the party’s current trajectory.
Many observers attribute this fallout to some unresolved internal confrontations and what Mr. Agyepong’s camp characterizes it as a systemic discrimination against him within the party’s inner circles.
The Rise of the Base Party;
While official confirmation remains pending sources intimate that plans for the “Base Party” are already in advanced stage.
Preparations are reportedly underway to establish a nationwide footprints with plans for regional and constituency offices already under consideration, it was hinted
The ambition is clear: to establish the Base Party as the most vibrant and leading political force in Ghana’s history, a strategic consultations with the smaller opposition parties to form a formidable alliance is on the roadmap.

When questioned about whether the Base Party has officially been registered with the Electoral Commission of Ghana sources could not give details describing it as confidential.
However they assured Ghanaians that an official outdooring of the party is on the horizon.
Kennedy Agyepong known for his abrasive but populist rhetoric appears to be testing the waters for a major power play.
Whether the Base Party remains a tactical threat to incite change within the Npp or transforms into a genuine third force contender, one thing is certain: the political stakes for 2028 are near.
As the nation waits for the official unveiling of the Base Party the call on Ghanaians to register and join the movement remain as one of the incoming party’s priorities
