Professor Akosa installed as new chief of Mampong

A new chapter has begun in the history of Asante Mampong with the enstoolment of Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa as the new Mamponghene. His installation follows the passing of the previous traditional leader, whose reign was marked by decades of cultural preservation, unity, and development.

The late Mamponghene was celebrated for blending tradition with modern governance, promoting initiatives that strengthened both the heritage and socio-economic standing of Mampong within the Ashanti Region. In line with Asante customs, the royal family a
nd council of elders identified Professor Akosa—a distinguished pathologist and public servant—from the Tenafuo Bretuo Royal House as the rightful successor. His appointment brings together deep royal lineage and extensive national experience.

Professor Akosa, a former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service and a prominent academic, is widely known for his advocacy in public health, education, and good governance.
