Ashanti Regional Minister-designate,Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has pledged to utilize his active social media presence to promote good governance and engage with the people of the region.

During his vetting on Monday, January 27, 2025, Mr. Amoakohene highlighted the importance of leveraging his digital presence to foster development and encourage youth participation in the region.

He emphasized that social media has become a vital channel for interacting with the youth, as traditional community centers have largely disappeared. “In times past, when I was young, my father would send me to the community center, where they go to play, ‘Ludo’, ‘Dame’ among others. In recent times, those centers do not exist. There’s a new society known as social media, where we get the opportunity to share ideas and also to interact,” he explained.

Mr. Amoakohene assured the committee that he would use his social media presence to promote the government’s agenda, while also acknowledging the need for balance. “I want to assure the house that I’m not going to overly rely on social media. However, the platforms will be available so that the youth who would want to reach me can still send a message, and there will be a team there who will look at the messages and draw my attention, in order that I will be able to assist them when need be,” he added.

Through his active participation on social media, Mr. Amoakohene believes he has gained a deeper understanding of the youth in the area, enabling him to better interact with them.
