As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gears up for its highly anticipated National Executive elections scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, tensions are reaching at a boiling point.
Mr. Mark Obeng affectionately known as Mr. No Nonsense who is the Chairman of the Kumasi Kejetia PZ Petty Traders Association branch of the Npp has issued a stern and final warning to those who are orchestrating what he calls a “vicious and coward campaign against the Aspiring 1st National Vice Chairperson oftheNewPatrioticParty, Madam Obaa Yaa Frimpong.
In an interview with the Correspondent, Chairman Obeng expressed his deep discontent with certain party activists notably those who allegedly travelled from the Npp’s United States branch and now options for propaganda over policies.
According to Obeng, these individuals have abandoned the duty of selling their own candidates visions but rather choosing to focus their resources to tarnish the reputation of Madam Obaa Yaa Frimpong.
If you strongly believe that your candidate is capable, mature and fit to contest election why are you resorting to blackmail and character assassination, Obeng asked.
Chairman Obeng noted that such vicious campaigns are nowhere to be found in the NPP’s constitution.
This is a party of ideas and not a platform for cowardly attacks.
A Call for Intellectual Maturity:
Chairman Obeng drew parallels between the current situation and the past, citing his previous intervention when former Subin Member of Parliament Eugene Boakye Antwi allegedly engaged in similar attacks on opponents during his bid for a national position in NPP’s national elections.
Obeng said ge was able to silence the former Subin Member of Parliament Eugene Antwi Boakye after which he Obeng asked him to paddle his own canoe.
Chairman Obeng further asked that if the Obaa Yaa Frimpong detractors are so confident in their own abilities, why didn’t they contest the position themselves instead of trying to sow discord and confusion within the NPP’s
Threat of Exposure:
The Chairmanwho is known for his uncompromising stance on party discipline, did not mince words regarding the consequences for those continuing the attacks on Obaa Yaa Frimpon
He claims to be in possession of information that could jeopardize the reputations of those involved in the smear campaign.
I am issuing this final warning: stop these dirty activities immediately or I will disgrace you.
All your names and agendas are in my hands, Obeng concluded.
