Ban the use of tricycles in cattle business to help protect animals – businessman to gov’t.
A Kumasi-based renowned businessman, Alhaji Musah Abubakari has stressed the need for the government to as a matter of national interest, ban the use of tricycles otherwise known as ‘Aboboyaa’ in the cattle businesses at the national level.
In an exclusive interview the correspondent, Alhaji Abubakari expressed worry about the growing trend in which some tricycle riders use their machines to torture domestic animals notably cattle, sheep, goats among others in the name of business.
The businessman who owns Basfam Co Ltd in Kumasi and also doubles as the Chairman of a pro- Muslim Movent in Kumasi dubbed, Muslim Executive Foundation (MEF) buttressed his point on how wickedly such animals can be seen over packed and tied up with heavy ropes in the tricycles on a scorching sun to the destinations where such animals are sold.
That was not all, he further touch down on the neighborhood countries where drivers exporting cattle into the country allegedly also apply the same cunning methods on the animals to land the country.
Appealing to the government to ban such wicked administration on animals which live with people, he also suggested to the religious organizations to devote their little time during their sermon sessions to educate their members on the purpose in which God created animals especially pets to live with human beings and the need to protect them.
The cruelties against animals are too much in the society and government have to step in until one day we would hear a story of animal exchanging blows with human beings, he pointed out.
Alhaji Abubakari re-echoed that he always feels disappointed when he comes across people doing harm pets, stressing that since these animals are created dumb and senseless, it is the responsibility of the citizenry to take good care and show love to them, even at the point of killing them for meal.
He also spoke against the manner some Muslims torture cattle before slaughtering them during their festivals.
He took the opportunity to passionately appealed to Imams to enforce education drive in their Mosques to helpe halt the cruelties on cattle before slaughtering them since the Holy Quran denounces cruelties against animals.
Citing how the advanced countries have passed out laws to protect the freedom of animals, chairman Abubakari suggested to the government to emulate the foreign policy to help punish offenders who would be caught in the act of abusing the freedom of animals.
The more we love our pets and other animals the more God blesses us, and therefore a word to the wise is enough, chairman Musa concluded.
