The Late Patience Akyianu
Hollard Ghana announces the death of its Group CEO, Patience Enyonam Akyianu, which occurred on Sunday September 20, 2026.In a press statement copied to Ghana Business News, the company described her as more than an exceptional leader.
“She was the beating heart of Hollard Ghana. Having joined us in October 2018, she became our first Group CEO, blazing a trail and laying a solid, purpose-led foundation for our future.
Under her exemplary stewardship, Patience was instrumental in transforming Hollard Ghana into the dynamic, market-leading force it is today. She was a visionary whose guidance made insurance more accessible to thousands across Ghana. Her defining legacy is not just the business growth she engineered, nor the trusted brand she built, but the culture of care, courage, and kindness she fostered within our team and in our communities,” the company said.She attended Wesley Girls’ Senior High School in Cape Coast, and proceeded to the University of Ghana Business school where she graduated with first class honours in Business Administration (accounting option). She has an MBA (Finance option) from the same institution.
She later worked at the Standard Chartered Bank as a financial controller, from where she rose to the position of chief financial officer (CFO) in the South African office of the Standard Chartered Bank, Africa Regional operations.
She is survived by the husband, Kwame Akyianu and her two children, Awurama and Nana Banyin.
