The Kumasi Kajetia Dubai Mosque branch Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Carlistor Musah Awudu has passionately called on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Mayor, Hon. Richard Agyeman Ofori popularity known as (Zuba) to take an urgent steps to curb the surge of armed robbery cases that have been plaguing within the major business hub in the city.
The plea comes in the wake of intensifying criminal activities around Pampaso, Dubai Market, Dr. Mensah, Dr. Caesar and parts of the Ashanti Newtown.
According to Mr. Musah these strategic commercial zones have become a dangerous traps for traders particularly during evening hours.
The Blackout Connection:
Mr. Musah attributed the spike in the criminal activities directly to the persistent power outages that have been occuring in the areas mentioned earlier.
According to Chairman Musah the robbers exploitations can also be linked to the lack of security monitoring in the evening hours when traders have closed from work and on their way to board cars to their homes.
These criminals he noted take full advantage of the blouts to terrorize citizens at gun or knife point and rob them of their day’s income.
Expressing his disappointment, the Ndc Chairman revealed that this is not his first attempt to draw the attention of the authorities to the deteriorating security situation at the area stressing that
despite his previous appeal the menace continues to spiral out of control.
As a leader of this community I have received countless reports of these robbery cases but efforts to address them have become failure hence my second appeal to the Mayor. for his swift intervention to free the traders from great of doing business without robberies attack.
