Ghc 300,000 Fraud Allegation Charges Prompt Asantehene To Distool Kwasohene.
Since Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was installed as Asantehene for the past years, King Solomon as he is affectionately called in the society, the well respected King of international repute has been persistently advising his chiefs to remain faithful and serviceable to help build the Ashanti Kingdom and for that matter Ghana as a whole.
As a responsible King and father for all, Otumfuo has in several occasions forgiven people, notably some
chiefs in the Ashanti Region who go contrary to the laws when they confess their guilt.
But as the saying indicates that when persuasion fails force should be applied, King Solomon who appears to be fed with the attitudes of some chiefs in the Ashanti Kingdom has moved a step forward to clampdown on alleged recalcitrants chiefs who wanted to take the customary laws into their own hands
One of such alleged lawlessness chiefs is Kwasohene Nana Nketia Boampong II , of whom Asantehene has hammered and flatly distooled him on charges of defrauding some royals of Kwaso under the pretext of handing over a vacant chieftaincy position to them which eventually turned out to be false with the chief failing to refund the monies he collected to the royals.
It was authoritative to note that the distooled chief was alleged to have been implicated in a whooping Ghc 300,000 scandal, been amount of monies he collected from the Kwaso royals over the failed promise to hand over chieftaincy vacant position to his victims.
At a sitting at the Kumasi Traditional Council here in Kumasi, Nana Nketia Boampong flatly denied the allegations but further probe implicated him in the scandal which he later failed to defend.
“By your actions l have distooled you Asantehene told Kwasohene and ordered that he should immediately pack off from the palace.
That was not all, Asantehene who has vowed to ensure sanity and discipline in the chieftaincy institution in the Ashanti Region recently caused the distoolment of Atoahene, Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman on charges of violating customary procedures and multiple sales of lands.
