Linguist Of Atuobikrom Assaults Angel TV Reporter Amidst Destruction Of Mobile Phone..
The linguist of Atuobikrom in the Mpraeso Constituency in the Eastern region Nana Akuammoa has been accused of verbally assaulting a journalist of Angel TV Oheneba Siaw after which he (linguist) destroyed the mobile phone which belongs to the reporter.
The Angel TV reporter Oheneba Siaw was among the team of journalists who were covering the New Patriotic Party’s Polling Station Executive elections on May 12th at Atuobikrom when the Incident occurred.
According to reports whilst the elections was ongoing confusion broke out within the delegates over transparency issues.
While efforts were making to solve the electoral misunderstanding, the case reached the chief of the town Nana Obeng Atuobi III who allegedly sent the linguist Nana Akuammoa to halt thee elections for peace sake.
Following the orders from the chief through the linguist thee journalists who were present followed Nana Akuammoa to the chief’s palace to find out why Nana Obeng Atuobi III intends to hallt. the. Npp’s elections.
The Correspondent gathered that at the palace Nana Akuammoa who wa suspecting some media recordings allegedly confronted the Angle TV reporter and other journalists amidst verbal insultson them.
In the process the. linguist smashed the mobile phone of the Angel TV reporter and upon a seeing that he had damaged the phone returned it back to to Siaw
Confirming the story to the Correspondent Oheneba Siaw said the journalists were at the palace to verify reports that it was the chief of Atuobikrom had instructed the linguist Akuamoah to order the NPP to halt the election.
The directive reporters confirmed was reportedly issued by. the chief of staff the town Nana Obeng Atuobi III over fears of rising tension in the community following the misunderstanding among some delegates of the party.
Oheneba Siaw who described the attack as an obstruction of his professional duties and an infringement on press freedom has since lodged a complain at the Mpraeso.
