The vibrant town of Nsoatre once a promising hub of development in the Bono Region now finds itself trapped in a cycle of stagnation.
For years, residents have expected their aspirations for progress but it seems to be on the crossfire of a protracted chieftaincy dispute that has effectively paralyzed the community’s growth and economic development.
The absence of a gazetted traditional authority has left a vacuum that has stalled essential projects, leaving the town in a state of infrastructural decay.
The residents currently grapple with the lack of basic amenities including motorable roads, adequate healthcare facilities, quality educational infrastructure and access to clean potable water.
Perhaps the most painful issues for the locals are the sight of stalled flagship projects initiated during the tenure of the former President John Agyekum Kuffuor.
Among these projects include an ultra modern University facility envisioned as a beacon of academic excellence for the youth and Community Centre which have since been now sits abandoned.
A Call for Calm amidst the Crisis:
Despite the frustrations, Nana Hinneh Barnabas, Dabehene, of the Nsoatre township has urged the residents to maintain peace and remain steadfast.
Nana Hinneh emphasized that there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon as the process to acquire a gazette for the Chief is nearing its conclusion—a move expected to unlock the door to the long awaited developmental issues within the traditional area.
Nana Barnabas identified the incoming leader as Odeefour Hinneh Anframfo II who is currently slated to steer the affairs of Nsoatre.
This follows an exhaustive legal journey with the Regional House of Chiefs,High Court,Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court which delivered verdicts in favour of Odeefour Anframfo II.
Nana Barnabas indicated that his formal inauguration now awaits final administrative clearance from the National House of Chiefs.
An Urgent Plea to Stakeholders
While the town awaits the final administrative green light, the urgency of the situation has led Nana Barnabas to issue a passionate appeal to the national stakeholders.
He has formally requested the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, National House of Chiefs and President John Dramani Mahama to intervene as a matter of national concern.
The people of Nsoatre have suffered for too long, Nana Barnabas stated and added that we are calling for a swift and peaceful gazetting of our Paramount Chief so that we can finally forget the past litigations and focus on the development that our people desperately deserve.
