This decisive action serves as a stark reminder that in the eyes of the law, no individual regardless of their social standing, religious influenc or wealth is not above the laws
A Breach of Regulatory Compliance:
The demolition follows an extensive investigation by the Municipal Assembly which uncovered that the ultra modern church structure at Fade near Mampongteng was erected without the requisite building permits.
Despite the Assembly issuing multiple formal notices urging the church leadership to validate their documentation and adhere to legal building procedures, the warnings were allegedly met with indifference and contempt.
According to the Municipal officials,the structure failed to meet the essential safety and zoning standards required for public assembly buildings and as a result prompted the Assembly to intervene to protect the integrity of the community’s infrastructure.
The Law Respects No Person:
Spearheaded by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Joseph Amankwaa Nuredeen popularly known as “Kwabre JJ Rawlings, the exercise is part of a broader and uncompromising exercise to rid the municipality of illegal structures.
In an exclusive interview following the demolition, Hon. Amankwaa emphasized that his administration is committed to enforce the laws without fear or favor.
The law is no respecter of persons,” he stated. “Whether you are a man of God, a politician, journalist , Mce, chief or a private citizen the regulations governing our municipality must be upheld.
He indicated that if the law catches up with you the stipulated consequences must follow.
Prioritizing Public Safety
The Mce further noted that the demolition is aligned with government directives that aimed at preventing national disasters.
With the onset of the rainy season, the Assembly has intensified its efforts to identify and remove illegal structures and buildings situated on waterways which often contribute to catastrophic flooding.
Hon. Amankwaa reiterated that the Assembly’s ongoing crackdown is not a personal vendetta against any specific group or individual but a necessary measure to ensure that development in Kwabre.
