Mce dubbed Kwabre J J Rawlings sets record in Nationwide. Demolition exercise

In a direct response to President John Dramani Mahama’s nationwide directive for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to clear unauthorized structures that have been creating impediments on waterways, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwabre East, Hon. Joseph Amankwaa Nuredeen emerges as a beacon of decisive leadership.

While many Assemblies across the country are grappling with political and social pressures of demolition, Hon. Amankwaa has earned an accolade “Kwabre J.J. Rawlings” whlch is a testament to his uncompromising discipline, hard work and actions over his approach to governance.

 

 

A Firm Stance Against Encroachment:
The ongoing exercise is aimed at mitigating the devastating impact of recurrent flooding, has seen Hon. Amankwaa’s Task Force and local security agencies actively in the operations of demolishing illegal structures that have long blocked natural drainage channels.

Despite stiff opposition from encroachers and powerful interest groups the Mce remains undeterred and have successfully reclaimed lands that were previously the hotspots for flood disasters.

Speaking to the correspondent in an exclusive interview, Hon. Amankwaa emphasized that his administration prioritized transparency before the bulldozers arrived.

We did not act out of malice. Before the exercise commenced we provided enough public notice for property owners to produce their valid building permits, he explained.

Kwabre JJ Rawlings continued that the Assembly gave property owners every opportunity to justify their structures to avoid accusations after exercise.

Accountability Within the System
The Mce related that he also took a bold steps toward internal accountability.

Stressing that he mandated the personnel from the Assembly’s Planning Department to clear their names to ensure that none of his staff had colluded with middlemen to issue fake permits since the law would be equally applied to catch up offenders without fear or favor

If we are to solve the problem of illegal construction we must be willing to look inward to ensure that our own house is in order, J J stated.

A Sustainable Vision for Kwabre:
The “Action Mce” has been lauded by residents for his consistency with many who observe that his nickname Kwabre J.J. Rawlings reflects the urgency and boldness that is required to fix a deep seated environmental challenges.

Addressing those who still attempt to thwart the efforts of the demolition teams, Hon. Amankwaa issued a stern warning:

For the sake of your own peace and the safety of this municipality do not create impediments for the Task Force and the Security Agencies who would not spare you when fall into their traps.

The Mce added that the group are on a mission to safeguard the future of our district.

He further underscored that the nation’s survival is intrinsically linked to its environment, as
without a clean and sustainable environment, the country stands the risk of stagnation and disaster.

Hon. Amankwaa concluded by expressing his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his foresight in prioritizing environmental sanitation and flood mitigation.

As the demolition exercise continues, the Mce remains committed to his mandate to provide his political will and unwavering dedication to battle against climate induced disasters and poor urban planning issues.
