A shocking incident has left the community of Kumasi reeling after a prominent businessman Francis Arthur was provisionally charged with murder following the death of his beautician girlfriend Sally Benson, aged 33.
The tragic event is alleged to have stemmed from a heated argument over the presence of another woman in their home during Sally Benson’s absence.
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Sally Benson who is the proprietor of Sally Beauty Cosmetics in Kumasi Asokwa.
According to initial police reports, the incident occurred after Sally Benson returned to Kumasi on Friday, April 14th following a business trip to Accra on Tuesday, April 11th.
Upon her return, Benson, accompanied by friends visited Mr. Arthur’s residence.
After meeting Arthur’s absent, she reportedly decided to wait. It was during this time where she allegedly received information that Mr. Arthur had hosted another woman in their home while she was away.
This news is said to have annoyed the budding entrepreneur.
Police accounts indicate that upon Mr. Arthur’s eventual arrival, Sall Benson confronted him to demand an explanation for his actions.
The petty misunderstanding then quickly devolved into a heated exchange of words amidst fighting.
Tragically during the ensuing altercation, Sally Benson allegedly fainted. In a desperate attempt to get help, Arthur rushed her to the KNUST Hospital where medical professionals pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Following this chilling outcome,. Francis Arthur was taken into police custody. The Asokore Mampong District Court has since provisionally charged him with murder.
The prosecutor Chief Inspector Samurai Agyareof the KNUST police confirmed the developments to journalists, stating that the case is pending for further investigation and legal proceedings.
