The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers in connection with the murder of a car dealer at Tuba, near Weija in the Greater Accra Region. The suspects have been identified as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon. They were arrested for the murder of 54-year-old Mohammed Rahman and the shooting of his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba.
The victims were returning from an evening walk when they were attacked at the entrance to their four-bedroom apartment. Both sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to Finney Hospital in Weija. Mr. Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival, while his wife was referred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where she is still on admission and responding to treatment.
The police, with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET), launched an intensive investigation which led to the arrest of the two brothers.
During interrogation, Adams Adder Almeida allegedly confessed to the crime. He told investigators that the deceased car dealer had repeatedly called him “lazy and useless”, a comment he said bas mentally affected him.
He then led the police to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate where a pistol believed to have been used for the shooting was retrieved from beneath a well.
The police also revealed that Bala Bilyon works with the deceased and that both brothers live together in the same room at Tuba. Adams further claimed the pistol was given to him by a friend identified as Gideon, who is currently at large. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
