A joint operation by the First Infantry Battalion and Eastern Regional Police has led to the arrest of seven illegal miners destroying water bodies and farmlands across parts of the Eastern Region. The swoop, led by Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey, covered Akyem Kubriso, Atewa West, Akyem Takyiman, Ayensuano, and Osino.
The team seized several excavators, 16 water pumps, 24 excavator batteries, a chainsaw, two pump action guns, three single-barrel rifles, washing carpets, and a gold scale.
