A section of artisans at the Suame Magazine Industrial Zone in the Ashanti region, specifically those at the Zone eleven (11 Benz Avenu ) have been facing an faces an unprecedented crisis following a threat of eviction by local developer.
These affected members of Zone eleven are therefore appealing to His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, and the government of Ghana for intervention as private developer tends to threaten them with eviction.order.
According to them, a section of Zone eleven artisans have been facing eviction threats from one Mr. George Kwame Owusu, allegedly orchestrated by Mr. Luqman Nuhun Appiedu, the Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Garages (GNAG).
Despite the association’s inability to defend them, members refused to move out from their shops..
Members are now calling on Otumfour Osei Tutu II and the government to stop the unlawful takeover of the plots of land they have occupied for over fifteen years.
“We are appealing to His Royal Majesty and the government for their quick and timely intervention to prevent the unlawful eviction,” they stated.
Mr Abu Kwabena Mensah, leader of the affected members said, the dispute have puts thousands of artisans, traders, and workers at risk.
Mr Abu posited that, this man George Kwame Owusu claims ownership and has served the affected Zone eleven members with an eviction notice, citing redevelopment plans.
Mr Abu appealed to Otumfour Osei Tutu II to intervene and resolve the issue.
They further called on the government to protect their interests and ensure business continuity.
