John Dramani Mahama’s ambitious “Reset Ghana Agenda Policy” will be futile without a significant shift in the national mindset.
Nana Boakye Yiadom Atonsa II acknowledged that indiscipline, greed, and lawlessness have permeated all levels of society.
He lamented that past efforts to discourage these behaviors have largely failed, leaving the country to suffer the consequences.
While praising President Mahama’s “Reset Agenda as a timely and potentially transformative initiative, the Atenehene stressed its dependence on a fundamental change in the attitudes of Ghanaians.

“Even if angels descended from Heaven to conjure fortunes for the country’s development,” he asserted, “President Mahama cannot achieve his agenda if corruption is not discouraged from the society, Nana noted
He pointed to the alarming rise in lawlessness, and criminal activity, where prioritizing national progress has become a secondary concern.
“Ghanaians believe in the rule of law, yet many pretend as if they are not under the laws, doing acts that go contrary to human comprehension to deceive ourselves,” he stated.
The Atenehene urged President Mahama to rigorously enforce the laws, calling for a shake-up in the judiciary, security sector, and parliament to ensure that lawbreakers are dealt with firmly and impartially.
He emphasized that even ministers found guilty of wrongdoing in their official functions should be punished as a deterrent to others.
Nana Boakye Yiadom Atonsa II suggested that address changes towards economic development, President Mahama could draw inspiration from the late Dr. Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah’s leadership.
While acknowledging that corruption exists in every society, he noted that Nkrumah maintained a focus on national development through strict law enforcement and discipline.
He reiterated that the “Reset Ghana Agenda Policy must be accompanied by effective and efficient law enforcement for the benefit of all.
Economic dialogue he said, also need to be prioritized since in his opinion one head cannot make a council.
The Atenehene concluded by expressing that President John Dramani Mahama having ruled before, is uniquely positioned to understand the challenges facing the nation and implement policies for its transformation.
He emphasized that a true “reset” requires not just policy changes, but a fundamental shift in the attitudes and behaviors of all Ghanaians.
