Cpp throws weight behind Mahama’ urges Ghanaians to support him to transform the country

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has enthusiastically endorsed President John Dramani Mahama’s visionary “reset agenda” for Ghana, urging citizens to unite behind this transformative initiative. The CPP believes that the president’s call for national reflection, review, and rebuilding of the economy will yield benefits for all Ghanaians, regardless of their political affiliations, creeds, or ideologies, if successfully implemented.

In a statement released on Thursday, March 6, the CPP commended President Mahama for his prudent decision to scale down the 68th Independence Anniversary Commemoration, thereby saving the nation a substantial GHS13.5 million, which represents a remarkable 90% reduction in costs.

The CPP recalled that during the 66th Independence Anniversary in 2023, it had advocated for a boycott of Independence Day celebrations until the country’s circumstances improved. Furthermore, as far back as the 55th Independence Anniversary in 2012, prominent CPP members had launched similar calls for change, leveraging social media campaigns and street engagements to mobilize support.

“The initiative to scale down the Independence Celebrations, as part of the reset agenda by H.E President John Dramani Mahama, is indeed laudable,” the statement read. The CPP also highlighted a significant moment during the recent National Economic Dialogue, where speakers acknowledged that the economic success of the First Republic under the CPP remains unparalleled to this day and should serve as a model for the nation’s progress.

“This was indeed a humbling admission, and the CPP is proud to have set a high standard of positive achievements during its time in power,” the statement added, underscoring the party’s commitment to President Mahama’s reset agenda and its potential to propel Ghana toward a brighter future.
