Kumasi, Ashanti Region – A prominent Kumasi businessman, Alhaji Musah Abubakari, Managing Director of Basfam Co Ltd, has issued a passionate appeal to President John Dramani Mahama, urging him to take immediate action to address the deteriorating condition of the Accra-Takoradi-Cape Coast highways. Alhaji Abubakari emphasized that the state of these vital arteries is hindering business activity and jeopardizing the safety of travelers, demanding urgent government intervention.

Speaking exclusively to a correspondent, Alhaji Abubakari expressed his joy at President Mahama’s recent victory, attributing it to divine intervention. He also highlighted his gratitude for the peaceful swearing-in ceremony. However, he stressed that, having started his business from humble beginnings, he felt a responsibility to bring to the President’s attention a critical area demanding immediate action.

Specifically, Alhaji Abubakari pointed to the dilapidated state of the Accra, Takoradi and Cape Coast highways, labeling them “death trap zones.” He emphasized the vital role these roads play in facilitating business and movement across the country. “These roads are major routes used by the business community and travelers, crucial to building the economy,” he stated. He argued that neglecting their maintenance undermines economic progress and puts lives at risk.

Therefore, Alhaji Abubakari strongly appealed to President Mahama to prioritize the complete maintenance of these crucial roadways. He believes that ensuring the roads are in suitable condition is essential for fostering smooth business operations and ensuring the comfort and safety of all who use them.

On the occasion, Alhaji Abubakari also commended President Mahama for his maturity and focus, noting that the president had not engaged in blaming the previous administration but rather had focused on tackling the economic challenges ahead. He further urged the President to maintain this stance of responsibility and good governance, reiterating the importance of accountability within the administration.

“As a mature, responsible, and intelligent politician,” Alhaji Abubakari stated, “the President should not shy away from disciplining his Ministers when they falter, ensuring that such decisions are devoid of party considerations.
